Channel hiking

The former Luisenstadt channel (“Luisenstädtischer Kanal”) was, over several decades, an additional connection between the river Spree and the Landwehr channel. It has later been fulfilled, and, during cold-war times, served as the GDR’s demarcation line to West Berlin (and actually carried the wall).

I have been walking there one summer afternoon, and found not a single remainder of that borderline era, but in fact some unexpected sights.
